Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown participated in everything but the live portions of practice Friday after injuring his left hamstring in the team’s preseason finale, according to coach Joe Mazzulla.
Mazzulla said Brown will be considered day-to-day moving forward. When asked whether the Celtics expect Brown to be available for Wednesday’s regular season opener against the Philadelphia 76ers, Mazzulla did not answer the question directly.
“I haven’t caught up with him yet (after practice),” Mazzulla said. “I expect him to be at his best every single day, and then we’ll take it from there. But just one day at a time.”
Brown exited a 110-108 preseason win against the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday after experiencing left hamstring tightness midway through the first quarter. He missed the rest of the game.
With Jayson Tatum sidelined for the foreseeable future with a torn Achilles, Brown is expected to take on the leading role for a revamped Celtics team that also lost four key rotation players (Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porziņģis, Al Horford and Luke Kornet) this summer.
