Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young, who left Wednesday’s game at the Brooklyn Nets with a right knee sprain, had an MRI on Friday that confirmed an MCL sprain and no additional structural damage, per the Hawks. Young has begun rehabilitation and will be re-evaluated in approximately four weeks.
A four-week absence means Young will miss at least 14 more games. His last prolonged absence was a 23-game stretch in 2023-24, when Dejounte Murray picked up enough slack that the Hawks went 12-11 in Young’s absence. The Hawks on Friday won their first game without Young in Indiana, 128-108.
In the first four games this season, Young averaged 20.8 points, 9.5 assists and 2.3 rebounds on 36.4 percent shooting from the field.
