Kon Knueppel is gathering high praise from his teammates early in his NBA career.
“He’s been great for us,” Bridges said, according to The Charlotte Observer’s Rod Boone. “He’s been our best player this year. He’s been consistent, and he brings it every game.”
Knueppel leads all rookies in scoring with 19.4 points per game on 49.1 per cent shooting from the field and 43.8 per cent from three. He is the only rookie to surpass 300 points scored on the season.
The 20-year-old additionally leads all first-year players with 63 triples made, 30 more than Cedric Coward in second.
Knueppel is the third-leading scorer on the Hornets, behind only Bridges and LaMelo Ball.
Ball has been mentioned in trade rumours recently, as Charlotte has struggled to start the season, sitting at 4-13. However, the guard has denied any rumours that he is looking for a fresh start.
The Hornets get back to action on Wednesday, taking on the New York Knicks.
