Star guard Luka Dončić will miss Tuesday’s game against Phoenix after suffering what the Lakers are calling a “lower left leg contusion” that he suffered against the Clippers Saturday.
The injury occurred in the first quarter when Bogdan Bogdanović kneed Dončić in the left calf. When the Lakers opened practice to media on Monday, Dončić had a large wrap on the calf muscle.
“It’s been diagnosed and confirmed as a lower leg contusion,” R\edick said when asked if Dončić received any image testing on the muscle.Redick said he considered Dončić “day to day.”
It’s the second time this season he’s missed time because of a leg bruise. Dončić missed three games in the first week of the season after suffering a similar contusion.
The Lakers, who finished Saturday’s loss to the Clippers with soon-to-be 41-year-old LeBron James as the lone healthy starter, will be getting help Tuesday against the Suns.
Deandre Ayton, who missed the last two games with a left elbow injury, fully participated in practice on Monday and is set to play against the team that drafted him No. 1.
And Austin Reaves, who has missed the Lakers’ last three games with a mild calf strain, participated in parts of practice and is questionable to return.
Rui Hachimura, who didn’t play against the Clippers because of groin soreness and reserve Gabe Vincent, who has a back strain, are both out.
