The Brooklyn Nets will be without their leading scorer as they try to reverse their early-season fortunes.
Thomas, 24, exited Wednesday’s win over the Indiana Pacers in the first quarter with the injury. He appeared to be limping after attempting a step-back jump shot before signalling to the bench to come out of the game.
He had played just five minutes before exiting.
For the season, Thomas is averaging 21.4 points and 2.6 assists in eight games while shooting 40.2 per cent from the floor and 35.6 per cent from three. He also led the Nets in scoring last season, averaging 24.0 points.
The Nets went on to beat Indiana without Thomas on Wednesday for their first win of the season. Entering play on Friday, Brooklyn is tied at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings with a 1-7 record.
