The Raptors 905 stand alone.
Following a 126-99 win over the Westchester Knicks on Tuesday afternoon, the Toronto Raptors’ G League affiliate capped off their tip-off tournament run with a 14-0 record, becoming the first team in G League history to go undefeated heading into the Winter Showcase.
Rookie Alijah Martin led the way for the 905, finishing with 22 points, four rebounds and one steal while shooting six-for-11 from the field and three-for-six from three-point range.
Supporting him were usual suspects AJ Lawson (16 points, five rebounds and four steals) and Chucky Hepburn (14 points, eight assists and three steals) as the Raptors dominated the 1-13 Westchester Knicks.
As they’ve done for much of the season, the 905 dominated the turnover battle, forcing 28 turnovers from the Knicks while only giving up 10. They scored 39 points off those turnovers to the Knicks’ 15.
Carrying the load for Westchester was centre Ibrahima Diallo, who finished with 17 points, 11 rebounds, two steals and four blocks.
The Raptors 905 will now head to Orlando, Fla., to prepare for the G League’s Winter Showcase — a 31-game event spread over four days (Dec. 19-22) as a way for players to show off their talents to NBA teams as the period for 10-day contracts opens up.
Officially, the G League’s 36-game regular season will begin on Dec. 19 at the Winter Showcase and will last until March 31, when the playoffs begin.
