A.J. Lawson’s strong play this season has earned him a full-time deal with his hometown team.
The Toronto Raptors converted Lawson to a standard NBA contract on Saturday, the team announced.
The Brampton, Ont., native is in his second season with the Raptors.
Lawson, 25, has appeared in 23 games for Toronto this season and is averaging four points and 1.9 rebounds per contest.
The two-way guard spent time with the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves before joining the Raptors organization ahead of the 2024-25 season.
Lawson becomes a permanent member of the Raptors with just one game remaining in the regular season.
The Raptors need a win over the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday to guarantee they won’t end up in the NBA’s Play-In Tournament.
