Report: Canada’s Shaedon Sharpe, Trail Blazers agree to 4-year, $90M extension

Sharpe, 22, was originally drafted by the Trail Blazers with the seventh overall pick in 2022.

The news continues a positive trend for the former Kentucky Wildcat, after his momentum from a modest rookie campaign was stymied by a core muscle injury in his sophomore season, wiping him off the court for all but 32 games.

Sharpe made up for the lost time in Year 3, however, despite missing the Blazers’ first 10 games of 2024-25 with a shoulder injury. He went on to score a career-high 18.5 points per game to go with 4.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists through 72 appearances (52 starts).

Now, he’ll likely be thrust into a starting role with Anfernee Simons traded away to the Boston Celtics and former No. 2 overall pick Scoot Henderson sidelined to start the season.

Portland was a bottom-10 offence last season, even with Simons scoring over 20 points per game. Sharpe will undoubtedly be looked upon this season to help improve that standing.

Meanwhile, Sharpe’s extension stood as the second order of business for the Trail Blazers on Sunday, after the team also reportedly agreed to a four-year, $82 million deal with lockdown forward Toumani Camara, per Charania.

The 22-year-old was the 52nd overall pick in 2023 and took a major step in his sophomore season. Camara averaged 11.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.5 steals, while shooting 37.5 per cent from distance through 78 games to solidify his reputation as a 3-and-D stalwart in the NBA. His prowess on the defensive side was his headlining characteristic, as Camara finished ninth in Defensive Player of the Year voting while making the all-defensive second team — leading Portland to the No. 4 defence post-all-star break.

The Trail Blazers open their 2025-26 campaign on Wednesday, when they host Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
