After leaving Wednesday’s game against the New York Knicks, Paolo Banchero will miss Friday’s game against the Brooklyn Nets after an MRI on Thursday confirmed he suffered a left groin strain, per Shams Charania of ESPN.
Banchero suffered the injury in the second quarter of the Magic’s 124-107 victory on Wednesday. It’s unclear how he was hurt, but he was taken out of the game at the 6:40 mark and was deemed questionable to return by the team soon after. He was ruled out at the start of the second half.
Before he was taken out, Banchero had four points, four rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block in 12 minutes.
The 23-year-old is averaging 23.3 points, 9.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 34.6 minutes a night in his fourth season in the league. Last season, the young star missed a chunk of the season due to an oblique injury.
The Magic have a 6-6 record this season and rank 10th in the Eastern Conference.
