Some familiar faces will emerge this morning during a press conference to introduce the leadership group for the Lowell Spinners, a new Futures League affiliate based out of LeLacheur Park in Lowell, Mass.
Phillips Andover head coach Kevin Graber will serve as the team’s dugout manager. Graber returned to Phillips Andover in 2024 after a two-year stint in the Chicago Cubs organization. One of the most accomplished coaches in the history of New England prep baseball, Graber led teams to CNEPSBL championships in 2012, 2013, 2016, 2018, and 2022.
During his stint with the Cubs, Graber led the Double-A Tennessee Smokies to a Southern League championship in 2023. He also has experience coaching in the Cape Cod Baseball League, New York Collegiate Baseball League, and the Mountains Collegiate Baseball League.
The Futures League consists of college baseball players who are looking to extend the season beyond the school-year calendar. They are not professional athletes, although college players can earn NIL money. The Futures League is one of three major summer collegiate leagues in New England, along with the Cape League and NECBL.
