The Norwich Sea Unicorns have made Futures League history.
After the higher-seeded Worcester Bravehearts and Vermont Lake Monsters were ousted in best-of-three semifinal series last week, the Sea Unicorns overcame a 1-0 championship series deficit against the New Britain Bees to become the first three-peat winner since the league was founded in 2011.
The first two games of the series were decided in extra innings before Norwich broke open Saturday’s deciding game late, winning 13-4 in New Britain to clinch the title as a No. 4 seed.
