Four familiar names in the New England coaching community recently accepted NCAA D1 head coaching positions, and another will join an ACC staff as the associate head coach.
Franklin Pierce alumnus and former SNHU assistant Corey Muscara accepted the most prominent position of the four coaches, becoming the new head coach at Duke University. The Duke position opened when previous Blue Devils coach Chris Pollard accepted the head coaching vacancy at the University of Virginia.
Muscara will reunite with his former SNHU boss, Scott Loiseau, only this time Loiseau will be Muscara’s assistant on the Duke staff. Muscara served as an SNHU assistant in 2010 and 2012 while Loiseau was establishing the program as a perennial national title contender.
Replacing Loiseau at Dayton will be New Hampshire native and former Franklin Pierce head coach Jayson King, who will return for his second stint as Dayton’s head coach. King spent the 2025 season as Vanderbilt’s hitting coach. He was Dayton’s head coach from 2018 to 2024.
Brown University also made a coaching hire after parting ways with Grant Achilles following the 2025 season. Former Northeastern assistant Frank Holbrook will begin his first head coaching stint at the D1 level. A Rhode Island native, Holbrook spent five seasons (2019-2023) as head coach at Rhode Island College.
Finally, Stonehill College filled its D1 coaching vacancy formerly occupied by Pat Boen for 28 seasons. Former associate head coach Sean Callahan will replace the recently retired Boen. Callahan served as the program’s associate head coach under Boen for the past two years.
Here is a closer look at each coach’s background.
