BLOOMINGTON — Chase Branham, the No. 42 player in 2027 per the Rivals Industry Rankings, committed to Indiana basketball on Saturday afternoon.
Branham, a guard from Rogersville (Missouri) Logan-Rogersville, pulled the trigger for Darian DeVries’ program during a weekend visit to Bloomington.
He is rated the No. 42 player nationally in Rivals’ industry rankings, and a consensus top-50 player. He committed the Hoosiers over offers from Purdue, Tennessee, Iowa, Missouri, Creighton and others. He had previously planned further visits this fall but made up his mind on the Hoosiers on Saturday afternoon.
He becomes DeVries’ first commitment in the 2027 class. Prince-Alexander Moody, a guard from the Washington, D.C., area, is committed in 2026.
What’s next for Indiana basketball recruiting?
DeVries will hope Branham’s commitment is the first bit of a fall full of good news.
The Hoosiers remain firmly in contention for, among others, 7-foot center Ethan Taylor, Virginia forward Latrell Allmond and top-10 Ohio wing Anthony Thompson, who plays AAU basketball with Indiana Elite. All three of those players are members of the 2026 class.
