Remember when you were a kid and you and your friends would line up to choose teams during recess? If you were a captain, you had a difficult task: Managing the delicate balance of picking the best players for your team while also keeping your friends happy. Nobody wants to be the last player chosen, after all.
The WNBA essentially did that Tuesday night when Caitlin Clark and Napheesa Collier took turns drafting their squads for the WNBA All-Star Game. The difference? Every player they had to choose from was a superstar, and the whole thing was shown live on ESPN.
It was a fun deal. Clark and Collier exchanged some lighthearted trash talk. They briefly discussed a couple of potential trades. And then they actually did make one deal, swapping coaches, of all things. It was basically an entertaining setup for the All-Star Game, which will be on July 19 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Clark’s home court.
And if you were paying attention, you’ll have an edge in this week’s quiz. Of course, only one question will cover the WNBA, with plenty of other things going on in the sports world.
Good luck, and if you have a moment, you should play our daily Connections: Sports Edition, too!
