Wisconsin basketball 2026 recruiting target Vaughn Karvala to transfer

Oregon’s Vaughn Karvala (6-7) will attend Bella Vista College Prep for his senior year. Tough loss for state hoops, but Oregon remains a very good team with lots of returning talent.

Wisconsin basketball top in-state class of 2026 small forward target Vaughn Karvala will transfer to Bella Vista College Preparatory for his senior year of high school, per his recent Instagram post.

Karvala, who spent his first three years of high school representing the Oregon Panthers in Oregon, Wisconsin, will officially head to Phoenix, Arizona, for his final year of high school basketball before making the jump to the collegiate level.

The 6-foot-6 wing received an offer from the Badgers back on June 28, 2024. His offer sheet also features Marquette, Ole Miss, Syracuse, Arizona State, Iowa and Xavier at this stage of the recruiting process.

247Sports considers the in-state product the No. 42 player in the class of 2026, No. 17 small forward and No. 1 recruit from the state of Wisconsin, a healthy jump from where he stood back in June. At the time of his offer, Karvala was 247Sports’ No. 108 player in the class of 2026, No. 34 small forward and No. 1 recruit from the state of Wisconsin.

Considering what he did during his junior season with Oregon, the improvement does come as much a surprise. In 24 appearances, Karvala logged 26.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.6 steals per appearance off 53.5% shooting from the field and 41.9% from outside. He dropped at least 30 points in eight contests, including a 44-point outburst in the second game of the 2024-25 regular season.

Where’s what 247Sports’ director of scouting Adam Finkelstein included about Karvala in his recruiting profile:

“Karvala is a translatable shot-maker with a pretty stroke from downtown. He also has good positional size on the wing at every bit of 6-foot-6. While he bases his game off his shooting right now, there’s potential to be much more than that. Karvala is an impressive athlete. He runs well, covers the court, and can rise-up explosively to play above the rim. Now, he still needs to get stronger, adapt to higher levels of competition, defend with consistent competitive physicality, and find other ways to impact the game when he isn’t getting looks from downtown, but the tools are all there.”

As of June 6, it’s unclear how much Karvala’s decision to transfer will impact his decision process. Only seven programs have offered the talented prospect thus far, but that number could blossom in the coming months and throughout his senior season.

247Sports and Rivals have yet to release a projection for where he may land, but On3’s recruiting prediction machine considers Syracuse the heavy favorite with a 79.3% chance to land a commitment.

Wisconsin’s class of 2026 features two commits: New Zealand wing Jackson Ball and in-state small forward LaTrevion Fenderson. If Vaughn commits to UW, the program’s current No. 14-ranked recruiting class would almost certainly crack the top 10.
