Alabama basketball commit Jaxon Richardson shows out at McDonald’s game

Happy Gump Day, everyone. Alabama commit Jaxon Richardson gave you plenty to Gump over at last night’s McDonald’s All-American Game.

His 13 points were third on the East team as his side cruised to an easy 91-71 win over the West team. Arkansas commit Jordan Smith Jr. scored 15, while Missouri commit Toni Bryant scored 14 to lead the East team.

Richardson showed great athleticisim, showcasing his high-flying ability as he was on the receiving end of numerous alley-oops, but he also excelled on the defensive end. His ball pressure forced opponents into tough shots and he created a few turnovers as he helped the East win the matchup.

Athleticism, you say?

Two of the dudes he jumped over are 7 feet tall. Jaxon’s father, Jason, was a NBA Slam Dunk champion. Genetics remain undefeated.

As far as the defensive effort, check out this clip… from a scrimmage.

That is the kind of player that wins basketball games. He is going to be a big contributor next season, and from the looks of things that may well be his only college season.

Richardson and both of his Alabama bound classmates will play in the Jordan Brand Classic this month.

All three members of Alabama basketball’s 2026 recruiting class have been selected to participate in the Jordan Brand Classic in April.

The trio of Jaxon Richardson, Qayden Samuels and Tarris Bouie are set to showcase their skills at the event, as each player has committed to Alabama and will be in Tuscaloosa for the 2026-27 campaign. Each recruit has elite talent and athleticism, as fans will officially get their first glimpse at the future Crimson Tide stars at the Jordan Brand Classic in April.

Mark your calendars for April 17 if you’d like to follow that one. It appears that it will be streamed on some platform. We’ll relay any additional information we get.

Keon Sabb is excited to play with his brother in his final college season.

Keon Sabb’s final Alabama football season carries weight. It’s the redshirt senior’s final chance for a full healthy campaign, one that can set himself up for the next level.

That last chance has turned into a Sabb family affair, one Keon has been waiting for.

Alabama signed wide receiver Amari Sabb, Keon’s younger brother, as part of its 2026 recruiting class.

“Excitement, joy,” Keon Sabb said of being able to play with Amari. “Kind of selfishly, for me, just to have my little brother around, but he’s coming up here to do his job as well.”

Pete Fiutak has Alabama’s schedule ranked 5th-toughest in the SEC.

How hard is each SEC team’s 2026 football schedule, at least as they all look as spring football gets rolling?

The conference might not have the highest-end superstar teams of the Big Ten, and Notre Dame is a killer, but the SEC will be insanely deep.

The teams projected to be near the bottom of the standings all improved – coaching changes, more talent through the portal, etc. – and up top, the depth is there with LSU, Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, and on and on.

Last, the transfer portal continues to kill Cinderella.

Despite a pair of Group of Six teams pushing their way into the College Football Playoff last season, data from the 2026 transfer cycle shows the talent gap between the Power Four and the G6 continues to widen.

Of the 114 G6 players who earned first- or second-team all-conference honors last season and returned to college football in 2026, only 29.5% remain with the team they played for in 2025. Of the 81 who transferred, 73 ended up at the Power Four level.

In comparison, 74.6% of Power Four all-conference players who returned in 2026 opted to stay with their previous team.

There is no reason whatsoever for G6 teams to be in the same playoff. It’s a farce, now more than ever.

That’s about it for now. Have a great day.

Roll Tide.
