The Auburn Tigers were on the wrong end of a brutal officiating mistake during their loss to the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday, and the school has now issued a statement addressing the situation.
Oklahoma scored a touchdown that should have been called back in the first half of its 24-17 win over Auburn. Sooners wide receiver Isaiah Sategna III got behind the Auburn defense and was wide open for a 24-yard touchdown pass from quarterback John Mateer, and it turned out the busted coverage was the result of an illegal maneuver.
Sategna began jogging to the sideline before the play and looked like he was going to be substituted out of the game. He remained on the field, however, with Auburn players understandably thinking he had exited.
The Tigers then lost track of Sategna.
