On Tuesday, the Colorado Buffaloes were punished for their fans’ behavior during BYU’s 24-21 win on Saturday at Folsom Field.
According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, the Big 12 reprimanded the Buffaloes and issued a $50,000 fine for “inappropriate chants” that occurred during the game.
“The Big 12 announces that it has issued Colorado a ‘public reprimand and $50,000 fine for the inappropriate chants that occurred during Saturday’s football game against BYU,'” Thamel posted on X.
Cries of “(expletive) the Mormons” could be heard from the bleachers on Saturday night. Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark stated that the hateful chant had no place in the conference.
“Hateful and discriminatory language has no home in the Big 12 Conference,” Yorkmark said. “While we appreciate Colorado apologizing for the chants that occurred in the stands during Saturday’s game, the Big 12 maintains zero tolerance for such behavior.”
