Congratulations are pouring in for Kirk Herbstreit’s youngest son, Chase Herbstreit, this weekend.
The youngest son of the ESPN college football analyst is officially a college football quarterback. Back in December, Chase Herbstreit, the youngest of the four Herbstreit boys, announced his commitment. Shockingly, he committed to Ohio State’s rival, Michigan.
Kirk Herbstreit said that while his son grew up rooting for Ohio State, the Buckeyes didn’t do much recruiting with him. So, he made his pledge to Sherrone Moore and the Michigan Wolverines. His commitment finalized this month.
Chase Herbstreit officially enrolled at the University of Michigan earlier in June, finalizing his commitment.

Herbstreit, who covers college football for ESPN and the NFL for Amazon Prime, opened up about his son’s recruitment process and commitment decision.
“I haven’t seen a whole lot of reaction intentionally,” Herbstreit said of the blowback to his son committing to Michigan.
“I know that 80 percent of people are thrilled and 20 percent are jackasses. I just decided – it’s one thing to take shots at me, but if you take a shot at me, and you want to get into a fight, it’s not hard for me to do that. So I just try to ignore that stuff the best I can and stay focused on the positive.”

While Chase Herbstreit was the biggest die-hard Ohio State fan of his four boys, the Buckeyes didn’t end up offering him a scholarship.
“Ohio State didn’t really pursue him to the point of offering him a scholarship. They were close,” Herbstreit admitted.
Now, the youngest Herbstreit son will be playing his college football at the University of Michigan.
