Deion Sanders Jr. was the only one of his dad’s sons that knew about the NFL legend’s cancer battle earlier this year. And according to Coach Prime, he never left his side.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Deion Sanders revealed he had to have his bladder removed after doctors found a cancerous tumor on it this offseason — something he only told his daughters and Deion Jr. about.
“My sons [Shedeur and Shilo] to this day don’t know what transpired. I just told them something with my foot again, because I wanted them to focus on making the team and not focused on Dad. So they really don’t know,” Sanders explained.
“Much love to my son, Junior, who [did] not [leave] my side since we found out what was taking place. Not one day,” Deion reiterated. “He’s been with me here, been with me in Texas, been with me everywhere, every day, and I’ve seen his hands and face, and I love you to life, son, and I thank you for everything you bring to the table.”
Sanders took to social media shortly after his father’s press conference with a familiar refrain from this morning’s gathering: “God is the greatest.”

Coach Prime still has some hurdles to get over before he’s fully back to feeling like himself. But his spirits are up and it sounds like he can’t wait to return to the field with his players this fall.
