Just like every national champion, Ohio State received an invitation to the White House. It wasn’t until this Friday though that fans learned about the Buckeyes’ plans.
Ohio State defeated Notre Dame in the national title game back on Jan. 20. Prior to kickoff, Trump delivered a message to both teams. Earlier that day, he had his inauguration ceremony in the nation’s capital.
“To all the players and fans watching tonight, I know it’s been a long and difficult journey, it’s been a long and difficult season,” Trump said. “We have two tremendous teams. Get to the game, go out and fight hard, fight fair and let the better team win. I’m going to enjoy watching it. Thank you and goodnight.”
Trump didn’t have much to say about Ohio State winning the national title. He did, however, send Ryan Day’s team an invitation to the White House.
According to CBS News, Ohio State accepted Trump’s invitation. The Buckeyes will visit the White House on April 14.

Shortly after this news broke, Ohio State fans offered their thoughts on the school going to the White House. For the most part, it appears the fan base is frustrated with this decision.
“I couldn’t be more proud to be a Buckeye,” an Ohio State fan wrote.
“Both my football teams disappointed me,” another fan said.
“Legitimately disappointing and disgusting,” a third fan tweeted.
“Losing respect for this team,” a fourth person added.
Not a single coach or player for Ohio State has commented on the team’s upcoming visit to the nation’s capital.
April should be a busy month for Trump, who will host the Ohio State Buckeyes and Philadelphia Eagles for their championship celebrations.
