Five-Star Edge Raves About Oregon Football After Official Visit originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Oregon Ducks just enjoyed one of their best seasons in recent memory, successfully navigating the regular season in their first year in the Big Ten Conference to earn an appearance in the conference championship game. They continued their winning ways against the Penn State Nittany Lions and secured the No. 1 overall seed in the College Football Playoff.
As a result, in the first year of the new format, the Ducks received a first-round bye. However, having that long of a break between games after playing nearly weekly for over three months. They fell in the Rose Bowl to the Ohio State Buckeyes in a rematch of their regular-season thriller.
Five-Star edge rusher raves about Oregon football after official visit
While the Ducks fell short of a national championship, their success continued off the field, as 10 players were selected in the 2025 NFL Draft, a program record. Oregon has a knack for developing young talent at nearly every position, evidenced by players like Bo Nix and Bucky Irving just a year ago.
In college football, it is said that success begins on the recruiting trail. So, when five-star edge rusher prospect Anthony Jones visited the Ducks' campus in Eugene this past weekend, people took notice.
According to On3, a national recruiting website, Jones was impressed with the time the Ducks staff showed him.
"I had goosebumps the whole time I was there," he told On3's Chad Simmons.

The Ducks have a recent history of successfully developing players for the pros while also achieving success at the collegiate level. The record of 10 players the Ducks had drafted broke the record they had set just the previous year. If there's ever a time to play for the Ducks, it's now under head coach Dan Lanning.
While Jones is in the class of 2026, it's likely he'd be able to step onto campus right away next year and make profound contributions right away. If this run of success under Lanning continues, more highly-rated recruits could be on the way to Eugene.
