Florida baseball ran into a brick wall this weekend in Tuscaloosa, getting swept in three games by the Alabama Crimson Tide in a series that opened up with the first no-hitter against the Gators since 1963 and ended in an offensive explosion.
It took 11 innings before Kevin O’Sullivan’s squad earned their first hit (and run) of the weekend, and they would go on to get outscored 28-11 by the time the final out was recorded on Sunday. Florida got lackluster performances both at the plate and on the mound, and it resulted in the team’s second series loss of the season.
As expected, the Orange and Blue took a big tumble down the standings, landing at No. 25 in the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll — down 11 spots.

Florida faces the Florida State Seminoles on Tuesday in Jacksonville for the second meeting of the season between the two in-state rivals before heading to Fayetteville to face the sixth-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks next weekend.

The Texas Longhorns are still the top-ranked Southeastern Conference school at No. 2, with the Mississippi State Bulldogs (No. 4), Auburn Tigers (No. 5), Arkansas (No. 6), Georgia Bulldogs (No. 7) and Oklahoma Sooners (No. 9) joining them in the top 10. There is a big jump down to the Ole Miss Rebels and Kentucky Wildcats at No. 18, who are trailed by the Tennessee Volunteers (No. 21), Alabama Crimson Tide (No. 23), Texas A&M Aggies (No. 24) and Florida (No. 25) to round out the top 25.
The LSU Tigers are the only other SEC team receiving votes, with just a pair this week.
