The final weeks of the 2024 college football season were a wild ride for Georgia in large part because Carson Beck suffered an injury to his ulnar collateral ligament in the SEC Championship.
After Beck went down with a UCL injury, Georgia needed Gunner Stockton to step up at quarterback. He completed 12-of-16 pass attempts for 71 yards and an interception in the team’s 22-19 win over Texas. The sophomore showed off his toughness in overtime, taking a brutal hit from Andrew Mukuba.
Stockton got the start against Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 2. He had 234 passing yards and a touchdown in Georgia’s 23-10 loss.
Roughly one week after Georgia lost to Notre Dame, it was revealed that Beck was transferring to Miami. He reportedly received a lucrative NIL offer.
At the time of this decision, Beck was dating Hanna Cavinder of the Miami women’s basketball team. Fans assumed he wanted to be close to her. Fast forward two months later, and they’re no longer together.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Stockton was asked about Beck leaving Georgia’s football team. One reported wanted to know if Beck told Stockton that he was transferring to Miami prior to the official announcement.
Stockton shrugged and simply replied, “He was busy.”
It doesn’t sound like Beck was sharing inside information with his former teammates.
We’re not sure if Stockton was implying that Beck was busy with offers in the portal or busy trying to sort out his love life. Either way, that ship has sailed.
Stockton is expected to be the starting quarterback for the Bulldogs this fall.
