A high school basketball and football player has been identified as the victim in a “horrific” three-car crash this week.
A three-car crash took place in Rochester, New York on Tuesday evening. The crash reportedly happened on State Route 590 near Browncroft Boulevard.
Tragically, a 17-year-old high school athlete has been identified as the fatal victim.
“Ricardo Carrero Chico, 17, of Rochester, was traveling north on 590 when he lost control of his car, crossing over the median and into the southbound lanes before striking two vehicles, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. He was pronounced dead at the scene,” the report states.
“Three occupants of the other vehicles involved were taken to a local hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries, according to police.”

Rochester City School District released a statement.
“Our thoughts are with everyone who knew and loved him. We are holding his family close in our hearts and offering our full support to the East staff and students who are grieving. As a support to students, counseling and emotional support services are available at the school,” the statement reads.
“The District is in contact with the family as they navigate this incredibly difficult time. The District will be respecting the family’s privacy by not providing any further statements.”
