Even just three years ago, it would have seemed unrealistic for the Indiana Hoosiers to compete on the college football recruiting trail with the Alabama Crimson Tide, Miami Hurricanes and Ohio State Buckeyes.
Three years ago, the Hoosiers didn’t have head coach Curt Cignetti or a ton of money flowing into the program from Mark Cuban. They also didn’t just beat the Hurricanes in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game. The Hoosiers went a perfect 16-0 and lifted the trophy. That’s not to mention the Big Ten Championship Game win over Ohio State.
The Hoosiers are now a legitimate threat on the field, and that’s made them a legitimate threat on the recruiting trail as well. That, plus proximity, is why the Hoosiers have made the top four for five-star wideout Monshun Sales from Indianapolis, Indiana.
Sales recently released his top four of Indiana, Alabama, Miami and Ohio State, and the job Cignetti has done with the Hoosiers is a big part of why he likes them.
“Indiana has been my second home,” Sales told Hayes Fawcett of Rivals. “Their coaching and how they’ve turned the program around to be national champions stands out.”
