The 2025 Heisman Trophy race remains wide open. While there are a handful of quarterbacks who stand out at the top of the list (including Ohio State’s Julian Sayin and Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza), there could be a running back starting to make his way into the discussion.
Notre Dame’s Jeremiyah Love entered Saturday’s game against Navy third in the country with 1,121 total yards from scrimmage and having already scored 14 total touchdowns. He is a game-changer every week and is capable of doing things only a handful of players can even think about doing.
He proved it again during the Fighting Irish’s 49-10 win over Navy on Saturday by scoring one of the most unbelievable touchdowns of the season.
If he gets an invitation to the Heisman ceremony in New York City in December, this play is going to be at the top of his highlight reel.
Love’s 48-yard touchdown run seemed impossible
With Notre Dame leading by 11 points early in the third quarter, Love turned what initially looked to be a five-yard loss into a seemingly impossible 48-yard touchdown.
He broke tackles in the backfield, was alert enough to know he landed on a Navy defender and was never down on the ground. Then he got back up and raced into the end zone.
