Oregon Tops Preseason List of College Football Travel Distances originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

If the Oregon Ducks are going to compete for a national title in 2025, they’ll be doing it the hard way — and the long way.

According to a new study by The Action Network, Oregon is projected to travel 8,371 miles during the 2025 regular season, the most of any team with top-10 championship odds.

That distance ranks third among all FBS programs, behind only Hawai‘i (14,812 miles) and Stanford (11,762 miles).

The Ducks’ travel load reflects both the realities of their Big Ten move and the program’s national ambitions. By comparison, SEC powerhouse Georgia — also among the betting favorites — is expected to travel just 940 miles all season, roughly nine times less than Oregon.

LSU, another title hopeful, ranks second among contenders with 7,416 projected miles, followed by Notre Dame (4,747), Texas (4,358), and Penn State (3,773). Rounding out the top-10 are Ohio State (3,042), Clemson (1,568), Alabama (1,499), Tennessee (1,352), and Georgia.

Overall, Oregon’s placement behind only two teams in total distance reinforces the logistical challenges that came with moving West-Coast teams into the Big Ten. With long trips to the Midwest and East Coast likely baked into the Ducks’ Big Ten schedule, travel management may become critical alongside on-field execution.

Oregon will be in action when it hosts Montana State on Saturday, August 30. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. PST.
