Penn State’s 2027 recruiting class now sits atop the country.
On Saturday, the Nittany Lions earned a commitment from 4-star athlete Khalil Taylor, who ranks as a consensus top-50 player nationally.
Taylor hails from Seton-La Salle High School in Pittsburgh, where he ranks as the No. 3 recruit in the state of Pennsylvania, per the 247 Sports composite rankings. Taylor sits at borderline 5-star status on On3’s player rankings, ranking as the No. 32 overall recruit.
He becomes the third member of the Nittany Lions’ star-studded 2027 class, which features the No. 4 offensive tackle in the country, Layton Von Brandt, and the No. 3 running back in the country, Kemon Spell. All three rank as 4-stars and top-50 recruits. Brandt is the No. 1 recruit out of Delaware, while Spell ranks as the No. 2 in-state prospect.
Spell was the first recruit to join the class, doing so on Aug. 2, 2024. When running backs coach Ja’Juan Seider left Penn State for the same role at Notre Dame, he extended an offer to Spell. Though there was seemingly some level of interest, Spell recently shut down his commitment and is fully locked in with the Nittany Lions.
Von Brandt committed on Nov. 9, 2024, and hasn’t wavered since, taking multiple unofficial visits back to campus.
Though the cycle is just getting started, the trio ranks as the No. 1 recruiting class in the early going following Taylor’s commitment, jumping Ohio State for the top spot.
