Iowa State football: Matt Campbell on Cyclones arriving in Ireland
Iowa State football coach Matt Campbell on how the Cyclones are feeling after arriving in Ireland.
There were questions going into the No. 21 Iowa State football team’s Week 0 matchup against No. 20 Kansas State in Ireland on Saturday, Aug. 23, on who would replace the productivity of the Cyclones’ passcatchers who left for the NFL during the offseason, and Dominic Overby might have just answered them.
The six-foot-five wide receiver pulled down the first touchdown of the 2025 college football season on a 23-yard fade route from quarterback Rocco Becht. The extra point by Kyle Konrardy gave the Cyclones a seven-point advantage before Kansas State’s quarterback, Avery Johnson, responded with a 10-yard rushing touchdown.
On third-and-9 at their own 26-yard line, Kansas State defender Qua Moss sacked Becht for a loss of 10 yards, stripping the ball in the process, and the Wildcats’ Chiddi Obiazor recovered.
