Alabama star wideout Ryan Williams has officially just joined the Nike family, becoming one of the most prominent college football players to sign an NIL deal with an iconic brand. Now a sophomore, Williams is one of the most recognizable players in the game, and now he adds another milestone to his resume as he becomes the second college football player to sign with Nike.

In a press release from Nike, Williams said: “Since I can remember, Nike has always been the best fit on and off the field. Family has always been a huge part of who I am. When I had the opportunity to join the Nike family, I knew I had to just do it.”

Williams’ talent on the field backs the NIL deal. As just a freshman in 2024, he recorded 48 receptions for 865 yards and eight touchdowns. Williams has been regarded highly for his elite speed, route running, and clutch performances, such as his game-winning play versus Georgia. At only 18 years old now, Williams quickly became the face of one of college’s all-time programs in Alabama.

Off the field, Williams is already emerging as a marketing juggernaut. According to ON3, Williams has an NIL estimation of $2.7 million, and already has deals with companies like Uber Eats, EA Sports, and Hollister. The Nike deal, however, stands alone for all athletes. Receiving a Nike deal is the stamp of approval that he is one of the top players in his sport. It affirms his status as well, as not just another star athlete but also a growing cultural icon.

This upcoming season, Alabama is expected to be firmly in the mix for a national title, and Williams is expected to play an even bigger role this upcoming year. Surrounded by other talented offensive players, Williams will still be the focal point of a promising high-powered offense.

Ryan “Hollywood” Williams is living proof that in today’s college football landscape, talent, brand appeal, and timing can help to bolster a superstar. And now with the Swoosh brand behind him, his story is only just beginning.
