For the first time since before they were in college, Travis Hunter will not having Shedeur Sanders as one of his teammates.
Hunter is now the star wide receiver and cornerback for the Jacksonville Jaguars as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Meanwhile, Sanders will simply be vying for a roster spot with the Cleveland Browns after going to them in the fifth round.
In a recent interview with WFIN, Hunter said that he’s spoken to Sanders since his infamous drop in last month’s draft. He said that the two of them will both do everything in their power to get their work done.
As for Sanders specifically, he recognizes that the former Colorado QB has “a lot of doubters” but knows that he’ll put in the work.
“We just going to work, man,” Hunter said.
“We both got our heads down, and doing what we have to do. There’s a lot of doubters out there for him, and he’s going to go to work. I’m going to go to work and just going to do what we’ve always been doing.”

At the University of Colorado, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter formed one of the most exciting passing combinations in college football. By the end of last season, Travis Hunter was hosting the Heisman Trophy while Sanders was looking like a first-round draft pick.
But then the NFL Draft process began and while Hunter’s draft stock never wavered, Sanders’ did. Reports of bad experiences during the interview process with Sanders marred the weeks before the draft and the Draft itself was even worse.
Sanders wound up having one of the most unexpected drops for a quarterback that many people had ever seen. To go from a QB2 to a fifth-round draft pick is almost unheard of in an age where quarterback talent is at a premium.
But there’s a long way to go before the final chapter in Sanders’ NFL story is written. He has his first training camp coming up and if he plays as well as people think he can, he has a real shot of getting a chance with the Browns.
