Meet New ESPN Star Erin Kate Dolan (1:10)

Following last week’s Stan Verrett news, another one of ESPN’s familiar faces is saying goodbye to the network.

On Saturday, longtime college football reporter Gene Wojciechowski announced that Saturday would be his last day with the company after nearly 30 years of service.

Taking to social media, Wojciechowski penned a short thank you to everyone who helped grow his career at the Worldwide Leader.

“After 27 1/2 yrs, my official last day on the ESPN books,” Gene shared to X. “Owe 1,000 thanks, but forever grateful to J Skipper, J Papanek, Steve Wulf, P Stiegman, Lee Fitting, Mike McQuade, D Kraft, Joe W, @KirkHerbstreit, @ReceDavis, Tom Rinaldi, @Jimmyggg44, @cfbfowler +every editor/prod/crew.”

Friends and colleagues quickly swarmed to his mentions to give him a proper sendoff.

“Legendary run,” Adam Schefter said. “Congratulations, Geno.”

“Tremendous reporter. Brilliant writer and storyteller. Better man. Unsurpassed as a loyal friend. Legend in the business,” Rece Davis replied.

“What. A. Run. All the best, Gene,” Michele Steele commented.

“What a great run for Geno, as a hack and a talking head,” Pat Forde posted. “Loved working with him and proud to call him a friend. A hilarious man of many talents.”

“Love ya brother,” Kirk Herbstreit responded. “Appreciate your commitment to the show and the respect you always showed to the people involved in the show. As loyal and good of a teammate I’ve ever had! Hope our paths cross again in the future. You’re the man!”

Wojciechowski was a staple of ESPN’s CFB coverage over the years and regularly made appearances on “College GameDay” to provide updates on the sports’ happenings in the fall.

His columns on ESPNMAG.com in the early 2000s also made for entertaining reads throughout the year and his work will definitely be missed by ESPN’s audience.

We certainly wish Gene the best in whatever his next venture may be moving forward!
