Wisconsin lands two huge in-state OL commits from Hunter, Reece Mallinger

The Wisconsin Badgers have always been known for having big, elite offensive lines, and they’re undoubtedly looking to continue that tradition in the Luke Fickell era.

That starts on the recruiting trail, and in 2026 and for the foreseeable future, it starts in the transfer portal.

The Badgers picked up a big win in the former on Wednesday. Two big wins, in fact.

Those wins came in the form of commitments from Hunter Mallinger and Reece Mallinger, two towering twin offensive linemen from Sussex, Wisconsin.

Two big-time offensive line recruits, both from within the state borders? That’s a win-win for Fickell and his staff.

“There’s nothing like getting the chance to play for my in-state school,” says Hunter told Rivals.  “I’m excited to continue playing with my brother and some other big in-state recruits. Not many people can say that they played college ball with their twin brother.”

Reece, the other twin, sounds just as excited.

“Wisconsin felt like home more than any other school,” he said. Getting the chance to play for my hometown team is a dream come true. And I’m super hyped for the opportunity to play with my twin brother. Our situation is truly special, something not many people get to do. I promise to give my all for the Badger Nation!”

Wisconsin Badgers add two big-time in-state offensive line commitments

For what it’s worth, Hunter is considered the better offensive line prospect.

A 4-star, he checks in at 6-foot-6, 290 pounds, and is ranked as the No. 18 interior offensive lineman in the 2027 class as well as the No. 4 player from his state.

Reece, a 3-star, checks in at 6-foot-6, 285 pounds and is ranked as the No. 63 interior offensive lineman in the 2027 class and the No. 10 player from the state of Wisconsin.

No matter the rankings, the Badgers are absolutely adding some big-time in-state size via the 2027 class, and that’s a huge deal for Wisconsin.
