Class of 2026 three-star cornerback Jaxson Gates has flipped his commitment from BYU to Missouri, per Hayes Fawcett.
“The 6’1 175 CB from Fontana, CA had been committed to the Cougars since July,” Fawcett said via X.
Gates also held offers from Michigan State, Syracuse, and Utah. He initially flipped from Syracuse to BYU before ultimately committing to Missouri.
The BYU Cougars have been the Big 12’s top team this season, boasting a perfect 8–0 record with dominant wins over Utah, Iowa State, and Arizona.
Their biggest test comes next Saturday, Nov. 8, in a high-stakes matchup against No. 13 Texas Tech, a game with major Big 12 title implications. BYU will then wrap up conference play with games against Cincinnati, TCU, and UCF.
Missouri, currently ranked No. 19, sits at 6–2 but has dropped two of its last three games. The Tigers remain in the SEC hunt but will need to bounce back quickly to stay in the mix.
The program faces a tough final stretch in conference play, including No. 3 Texas A&M and No. 18 Oklahoma. If they can regain their early-season form, the Tigers could still play spoiler in the SEC race.
