A wave of departures has reportedly left head coach Deion Sanders high and dry with the Colorado Buffaloes on the defensive side of the football, including Warren Sapp.
It’s never a good look to lose a string of defensive coaches before spring practices start in college football, but that is reportedly happening in Boulder, CO. It wasn’t expected to be a low-key offseason for the Buffaloes anyway, but here we are.

NFL Hall of Famer Warren Sapp was the most recognizable name on the Buffaloes’ coaching staff, and it only took him two years to go from assisting with the defensive line to the defensive pass rush coordinator for coach Prime’s staff.
It’s the timing of it all that makes this significant. Earlier this week, defensive coordinator Robert Livingston accepted a job with the Denver Broncos, and earlier this month, defensive line coach Domata Peko announced that he will be joining the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Whether the writing was on the wall within the program, or Sapp is just simply testing the waters elsewhere, it seems that things are happening inside the facilities in Boulder.
It will be time for a full reset, and a tall task at that for Deion Sanders and staff to get back into contention, but the morale around campus has dipped quite a bit.
