The NCAA Baseball Tournament Regional host sites were announced on Sunday night and the Big 12 was no where to be found.
Despite public lobbying from TCU head coach Kirk Saarloos, the Big 12 did not get the benefit of the doubt.
Here’s a look at the Regional host sites from the NCAA.
This decision comes one day after TCU lost the Big 12 Championship Game to Arizona 2-1 in 10 innings on Saturday night in Arlington, Texas.
But those who most-closely cover the sport admitted throughout the day on Sunday that the Horned Frogs were absolutely worthy of hosting a Regional. Here’s what D1Baseball’s Kendall Rogers had to say on X on Sunday night.
This marks the first time since 2008 that the Big 12 Conference is not hosting a single Regional in the NCAA Baseball Tournament.
Looking at D1Baseball.com, there are eight Big 12 teams expected to make the field — Arizona, Arizona State, Cincinnati, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, TCU and West Virginia.
So now, the Horned Frogs, and the rest of the Big 12 hopefuls will have to wait until Monday morning at 11:00 a.m. CT for the Selection Show to find out their destinations.
