BYU Fan Gets Tattoo of Kalani Sitake’s Face After Coach Stays With Cougars

Every fanbase has that one guy who takes it a little too far. For BYU, it’s Twitter user @rivercoug, and buddy just made sure nobody questions his loyalty to Kalani Sitake ever again.

A few weeks ago, in the middle of the coaching rumor chaos, the guy made a bold promise. If Kalani Sitake came out with a full “I’m not leaving” moment and doubled down on his commitment to BYU, he’d get Sitake’s face tattooed on his thigh. Most people throw out that kind of tweet just to stir the pot and hope it gets buried under the next viral clip. Not this guy. Sitake stayed. The fan followed through. And yes, there’s now a real-life tattoo of Kalani Sitake’s face etched into this man’s leg forever.

This whole thing popped off after some smoke started swirling about Sitake being a name to watch in the Penn State coaching searches. It made sense. He’s done a good job in Provo, led BYU through the Big 12 transition, and kept the Cougars competitive in a new era of college football. But when the speculation reached its peak, Sitake shut it down. He told the fanbase he wasn’t going anywhere, and that was all it took.

The tweet receipts were there, and he owned up to it. And now we’ve got a very permanent reminder that Twitter bets can and will go through if your coach stays put.

To be fair, the tattoo itself isn’t bad or poorly done. It’s not some five-minute stick and poke. The thing actually looks like Kalani Sitake. You can even see the headset. It’s not subtle, and it’s not going away. That’s commitment, whether you respect it or think it’s insane.

This is one of those college football stories that reminds you why this sport is different. The games are great, but the fandom is what makes it chaos in the best way possible. A head coach doubling down on his program is one thing. A random dude putting his leg on the line to celebrate it? That’s the kind of off-the-wall loyalty that only makes sense if you live and breathe this stuff year-round.
