Will Mencl has quickly emerged as one of Arizona’s most promising young quarterbacks, blending statistical dominance with growing national recruiting attention.
On Friday nights in Chandler, Arizona, the Wolves’ offense hums with rhythm and confidence, and much of that is thanks to the junior. Standing at 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds, Mencl has become the centerpiece of Chandler’s attack, a pocket passer with poise beyond his years.

All of that has made Mencl a finalist for the ALL-USA West Football Team, which also makes him a finalist for the national ALL-USA Football Team. Both of those teams will be announced later this month. Here is a complete list of the quarterback finalists.
This season was nothing short of remarkable: in 13 games, Mencl completed 257 of 366 passes (70.2 percent) for 3,801 yards and 33 touchdowns, with only five interceptions. That efficiency translates to a staggering 292.4 passing yards per game.
Mencl’s production isn’t limited to the air. He has also shown mobility when needed, rushing 117 times for 718 yards (6.1 yards per carry) and 17 touchdowns this season. His dual-threat capability adds a layer of unpredictability to Chandler’s offense, forcing defenses to respect both his arm and his legs.

In total, Mencl has accounted for 4,519 yards of offense and 50 touchdowns, averaging nearly 348 yards per game.
Looking at his career numbers, Mencl’s trajectory is clear. Over two varsity seasons, he has thrown for 4,859 yards and 44 touchdowns, while rushing for 883 yards and 22 scores. His career completion percentage of 70.5 percent underscores his accuracy and decision-making, traits that college recruiters covet.
Recruiting attention has followed. 247Sports lists him as the No. 21 quarterback in the 2027 class and the No. 7 recruit in Arizona. His offer list is already impressive, including Oregon, Missouri, North Carolina, Arkansas, Boston College, Kansas, Kansas State, San Diego State and more.
His recruitment gained momentum recently, with Oregon offering in late November and Missouri in October, signaling interest from Power Five programs.
Beyond the numbers, Mencl’s story is about leadership. Chandler High has long been a powerhouse in Arizona football, producing Division I talent year after year. For Mencl, stepping into the role of starting quarterback meant inheriting the weight of tradition. His calm demeanor and ability to deliver in high-pressure moments have earned him respect from teammates and coaches alike.

Whether it’s threading a deep ball down the sideline or converting a crucial third down with his legs, Mencl has shown the kind of versatility that defines great quarterbacks.
What makes Mencl particularly intriguing is his ceiling. As just a junior, he has already demonstrated mastery of Chandler’s offense, and with another season ahead, his numbers could climb into historic territory. His combination of size, accuracy, and athleticism suggests he could be one of the most heavily recruited quarterbacks in Arizona in recent memory.
For now, Chandler fans are savoring the ride, watching a young quarterback grow into a star under the Friday night lights.
