Four-star quarterback prospect Dane Weber of Chaparral High School in Temecula, California, has included Cincinnati, Kansas and Kansas State in his final eight schools following his junior season, which brought a flurry of offseason interest.
Currently, Weber is the country’s No. 25 passer in the Class of 2027 with additional Power Four interest from Michigan, Oregon, California and UCLA.
Weber led Chaparral, finishing 7-5 overall last year, with 3,645 passing yards, 41 touchdowns and nine interceptions; It’s a second consecutive season where Weber has finished the season completing 67% of his passes or better.
Cincinnati and quarterbacks coach Pete Thomas are pursuing Weber hard, and the Bearcats are set to host the four-star recruit on campus April 3. The quarterback topic there especially sour since Brendan Sorsby‘s lateral move to Texas Tech.
Just one quarterback, redshirt sophomore Samaj Jones, will return to Cincinnati next season; Georgia Southern transfer JC French IV is poised to compete for the starting job right away, and is ESPN’s pick to win the job outright in fall camp.
Kansas and Kansas State, on the other hand, each have multiple prospects with eligibility in waiting. The Jayhawks are bringing in Class of 2026 signee Jaylen Mason, and the Wildcats return second-year quarterbacks Blake Barnett and Dillon Duff.
