It’s a tale as old as time: sometimes the best gets are the ones you have at home.
That was the case for the Texas Tech Red Raiders, who are set to return one of the nation’s top freshmen in 2025-26.
With an official post from Texas Tech Basketball, freshman phenom Christian Anderson is planning on returning to Lubbock, Texas, for his sophomore year.
Coming out of Oak Hill Academy in the Class of 2024, Anderson was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 113th-ranked player. He also checked in as the 10th-ranked player at his position and the sixth-ranked player in the state of Virginia.
Prior to his commitment to Texas Tech, Anderson signed a letter of intent to play for Michigan. He initially committed to the program on October 6th, 2021, and he remained committed to until March 30th, 2024, when he was granted release from his NLI.
In his first year of college basketball, Anderson posted 10.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game on 42.9% shooting from the field. He connected on 38% of shots from three and 80.2% from the charity stripe in 35 games played (seven starts).
With his return to Lubbock, Grant McCasland retains one of his stars in the backcourt in an era of rapid transfer portal departures.
