Mark Vital’s History with Jerome Tang
Vital joined head coach Jerome Tang’s staff as a graduate student manager prior to the 2025-26 season. Tang coached Vital at Baylor, where the two were a part of the 2021 National Championship team with the Bears under Scott Drew.
At the time, Tang was an assistant coach for the Bears and Vital, who played four seasons with the Bears, and over his career 6.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Vital then played professional basketball in foreign countries and also spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs as a tight end.
K-State did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
This story follows up what has been a tumultuous season for the Cats, including issues “behind the scenes” for the Wildcats, according to K-State beat reporters.
On the court, K-State is 10-13 overall, and 1-9 in league play. The Wildcats are back on the court Wednesday night at home against Cincinnati.
