The college football world is joining the Cincinnati Bearcats in mourning after the program tragically lost one of its players on Tuesday morning.
Taking to social media, the school announced that freshman interior lineman Jeremiah Kelly died unexpectedly at his home after recently concluding his first spring practice at the university.
“The Bearcats football family is heartbroken by the sudden loss of this outstanding young man,” head coach Scott Satterfield said in a statement. “In the short time Jeremiah has spent with our team, he has made a real impact, both on the field and in our locker room. My prayers are with the Kelly family and those who had the pleasure of knowing Jeremiah.”

Fans were equally as gutted in the comments.
“This kid was as good as they get,” teammate Gavin Gerhardt shared. “Had a smile 24/7 that would brighten up a room. Truly bought joy to the offensive line room. Had a tremendously bright future. The list goes on and on when talking about this young man. Forever, my brother. Love and miss you so much JKell❤️.”
“Gonna miss you moo, love you ❤️❤️,” another friend replied.
“Gutted. This kid is as good as they come, was on top of the world, and had an unbelievably bright future,” Wake Forest AD Scott Garrett said. “Prayers to Jeremiah, his family and friends, and the @avoneagles community. 💜💛”
“We are all completely heartbroken,” UC’s wide receiver coach added. “Such a bright future both on and off the field! Smile would light up the room!”
“Such a sweet soul who had the most infectious smile.🤍”
“What a great kid man,” another commented. “Gone too early. Love you bro ❤️.”

It’s hard to imagine how tough this loss is to Kelly’s family, friends and loved ones — especially when a young person passes so soon.
We certainly send our best to them and everyone he crossed paths with in the Bearcats program.
