Though it’s not a huge surprise, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day was asked about Michigan at Big Ten Football Media Days this Tuesday.
Even though Day won a national championship this season, he’s facing a good amount of pressure this fall. That’s because fans in Columbus want to see him take down Michigan.
Since defeating Michigan in 2019, Day has lost the past four meetings to “The Team Up North.” Last season’s loss at home had Ohio State fans calling for a coaching change.
At Big Ten Football Media Days, a reporter asked Day what’s the key to beating Michigan. His response was as simple as it was snarky.
“By scoring more points than them,” Day said.

Ohio State fans didn’t really love this response from Day. They claim he didn’t take this question serious enough.
“It’s that kind of answer that kind of annoys me. Give us a little more fire to it coach. You make it sound trivial,” one fan replied.
“This confirmed he doesn’t even take the rivalry serious,” a second fan said. “I’m already expecting a loss not wasting 3 hours of my life watching that.”
“Playing to your own strengths and not some theoretical ideal that the other fanbase baits you into is what we’ve been missing,” another fan wrote.
Obviously, Day is aware of Ohio State’s shortcomings against Michigan. He’s not going to share any tactics with the public.
Ohio State and Michigan will square off on Nov. 29 in Ann Arbor. There’s no doubt all the heat will be on Day going into that matchup.
