No. 3 Texas A&M (10-0, 7-0 SEC) will host Samford (1-10) for an early Saturday afternoon matchup just a week after the Aggies’ historic 27-point comeback against Samford, defeating the Gamecocks 31-30 behind starting quarterback Marcel Reed’s career high 439 passing yards and three touchdowns.
Reaching 10-0, the Aggies will still need to win out, including a road win over the Texas Longhorns, to earn a spot in the SEC Championship Game for the first time in program history. On its face, hosting a 1-10 Samford team that has allowed over 50 sacks this season and has been one of the worst defenses in the FCS, will more than likely result in a lopsided blowout that is over before halftime.

Still, this game, which will also serve as Senior Day and the final regular home game for over 30-plus players, holds more meaning than the opponent. After trailing 30-3 at the half against South Carolina, head coach Mike Elko spoke this week about the need to play a “complete game” from start to finish, controlling the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, and not giving up explosive plays on defense.
Again, Samford is not a good football team, but it will look to catch the Aggies sleeping early and potentially make this a tighter contest than expected. While I don’t see this happening, we’ve seen weirder first halves against much fewer opponents in the past.
On Thursday night, Texas A&M’s media team revealed that the Aggies will don the classic maroon helmet, maroon jersey, and white pants this weekend against Samford, as the classic home look will never go out of style and remains a fixture in Kyle Field.
No. 3 Texas A&M will host Samford on Saturday, November 22, at 11:00 a.m. CT. The game will be available to stream on SEC Network+.
