TJ Finley is officially on the move again, and this time it’s to Incarnate Word. That makes seven different schools for the veteran quarterback, which feels like an all-time record even in this transfer-happy era of college football. We’ve seen some wild journeys through the portal, but Finley’s path is starting to look more like a college football road trip than a career.
Here’s the full list: LSU, Auburn, Texas State, Tulane, Western Kentucky, Georgia State, and now Incarnate Word. That’s more logos than some players will ever face, let alone wear. It’s hard to keep track of where he was last, but at this point, Finley’s just leaning into the chaos.
There was a time when Finley looked like a rising star. He started games as a true freshman at LSU, threw a few darts, and looked like a guy who might stick around in the SEC, but it never quite clicked. He bounced to Auburn, then started putting together a productive run at Texas State, and after a few more pit stops, he’s now headed to the FCS level to finish things out.
It’s easy to joke about the number of schools, but honestly, it takes a different kind of mindset to keep doing this. Finley clearly wants to play, and he’s not interested in holding a clipboard or waiting for someone to get hurt. He’s chasing reps, and in this new world of player movement, you can’t knock a guy for betting on himself over and over again.
There’s no telling how this one will end, but one thing’s for sure: TJ Finley’s college career is one of the wildest you’ll ever see. Seven schools, a handful of starts, and one more chance to make it all click. Buckle up.
