Class of 2026 cornerback Darion Jones committed to the Iowa Hawkeyes on Friday, and his brother, Husker defensive back Donovan Jones, made sure to rep his Husker loyalty during the announcement.
Donovan has been with the Huskers since the 2024 season. He played in five games, recording five total tackles and one tackle for loss. He also saw time on kickoff coverage and made his biggest impact in the Pinstripe Bowl. He recorded three tackles, as well as a tackle for loss in the game.
Darion looks to make a mark of his own at the collegiate level. Jones plays for Omaha North High School. He’s ranked as the No. 2 prospect in the state of Nebraska according to On3 Industry Rankings.
He joins a Hawkeyes class that has 14 overall commitments. In the meantime, Donovan made sure that Nebraska was still represented on his brother’s big day. See the ‘house divided’ below.
This could set up for some interesting battles with Iowa over the next couple of seasons. The Nebraska-Iowa rivalry is already filled with subplots, and this is another one to add to the list.
