Analyst Has High Praise About New Giants Roster

It’s been a while since the New York Giants were a consistently competitive team.

They looked poised to change that in the first year under head coach Brian Daboll, but the success was short-lived.

Now, after hitting the reset button at quarterback and adding some young talent to their ranks, things are trending in the right direction.

With that in mind, NFL analyst Emory Hunt said he believes this is the best version of the Giants we’ve seen in a while.

“This is the best roster the Giants have under Brian Daboll. The roster is impressive in terms of how it’s constructed, and team construction is key. The D-line, the defensive front seven, looks impressive. The athleticism at wide receiver, pick your flavor, right? You want big, you want small, you want quick, you want fast, they got it all. And the quarterback depth chart looks impressive too. … It’s the ideal situation for the Giants. I think they knocked it out the park,” Hunt said on “The Ross Tucker Podcast.”

The Giants still face a steep challenge to get back to the playoffs.

They might have a case for being a better team than the Dallas Cowboys, but they still have plenty of catching up to do with the Washington Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East.

Of course, plenty of that will depend on whether Russell Wilson plays well, or Jaxson Dart proves ready to take the reins at quarterback at some point in the season.

Their defensive front looks as stacked as it’s been in a while, and adding a potential generational talent like Abdul Carter should do wonders for their pass rush.

Malik Nabers proved to be a special wide receiver despite Daniel Jones’ well-documented struggles at quarterback, and it will be interesting to see what the second-year player can do in an improved situation.

A playoff berth might be too much to ask in 2025, but for the first time in years, the Giants seem to have a plan and a clear vision.
