The Dallas Cowboys may have found a blessing in disguise.
Undrafted wide receiver Traeshon Holden has turned some heads, and he even moved up on the team’s depth chart after his solid debut in the preseason opener vs. the Los Angeles Rams.
The Oregon product paced the team with 42 receiving yards.
He also impressed with a 35-yard pass from Joe Milton.
When asked about him, Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer had nothing but praise for the undrafted rookie (via Nick Harris):
“Every day. He shows up every day. He really does. Every day, he makes a play…That’s a guy you’re going to continue to see moving up the depth chart,” Schottenheimer said of Holden, per Nick Harris.

Holden had already drawn positive reviews from training camp, but he now looks like a strong candidate to make the 53-man roster.
He got reunited with his former college coach, Junior Adams, who’s the Cowboys receiver coach.
He also played with Ajani Cornelius, whom the Cowboys selected with the No. 204 pick of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Holden is an excellent route-runner who can also dominate his opposition with his physicality.
Standing at 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds, he’s much more explosive than the average player of his height.
He posted 1,170 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns on 82 catches in his two seasons at Eugene, and he earned Honorable Mention All-Big Ten Conference selections in 2024.
Holden is also a willing and physical run blocker.
The Cowboys already have a solid one-two punch of pass-catchers, with CeeDee Lamb and the recently acquired George Pickens leading the way.
Even so, you can never have too much firepower in the passing game, and Holden has made a strong impression since he joined the team.
