Could Blake Coleman Head Back to Tampa Bay From Calgary?
Elliotte Friedman, on the recent edition of the 32 Thoughts Podcast with Kyle Bukauskas, was discussing the Calgary Flames. He details the interest in Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson. But from there, he moves to the Nazem Kadri situation; nothing has changed there, but interest in Blake Coleman is growing. Could a reunion with the Tampa Bay Lightning be on the horizon?

NHL Rumors: What Are the Calgary Flames Looking to get for Blake Coleman and Rasmus Andersson
Elliotte Friedman: “There’s been some reporting about Nazem Kadri. I’ve got nothing to add there. The one thing I’ve heard about (Blake) Coleman, and it’s been reported, there’s a lot of interest in Coleman, and I think that’s true.
Kyle Bukauskas: “It makes a lot of sense.”
Friedman: “Well, I think he’s pretty happy to stay, to be honest. I don’t think he would be upset at all if he stayed in Calgary. But the one thing is, there’s been a lot of talk about Montreal. What I understand with Coleman is that and had some other teams that were telling me not to buy into the Montreal.
Possibility that there’s other teams that may have an advantage here. So that’s what they were hinting in my direction, and maybe it might not be one of the teams that they can get him to. So we’ll see. We’ll see what happens there, Kyle.”
Bukauskas: “Okay, and when I said it makes a lot of sense that, just like, how many teams out there be going, ‘Yeah, that guy can help us.’ Like always, another guy who’s been putting together a pretty good season, and I’ll always believe that somewhere out there is Julien BriseBois. He’s already broken the mould of starting the reunion tour. Ryan McDonagh is back. Yanni Gourde is back.
NHL Rumors: 20 teams have inquired about Blake Coleman
Friedman: “Yep.”
Bukauskas: “Just always going to keep that in mind here as we go forward.”
NHLRumors.com Note: There has been a lot of interest in Blake Coleman dating back to his time in New Jersey. Remember, the Devils sent him to the Tampa Bay Lightning right before COVID hit the league. Coleman was a part of the back-to-back Championships with the Lightning. The flat cap forced him out. He signed with the Flames and has some say in where he goes. The Lightning won’t be the only team going after his services, given how he can help a team in the playoffs.
